Caramel Apple Pie
Recipe
5 green apples cored and skinned
1 lemon
1 cup brown sugar
3 TBSP butter
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 TBSP corn starch
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup caramel dip
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 9 inch premade frozen pie crust (or your own preference)
Directions
Start by chopping your skinned and cored apples into small cubes and adding them to a large pot. Next, add in the butter, lemon, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. In small bowl, stir 1/2 cup of milk and 1 & 1/2 tablespoons of corn starch until smooth. Add the milk-corn starch mixture into the pot with the other ingredients and stir. Turn medium high heat and let your apple filling cook, stirring frequently. The goal is to let the sauce thicken up before adding the caramel dip. Once your apples are soft and the sauce is thick enough, add in 1/2 cup caramel dip. Remove from heat and stir thoroughly. Pour the filling on to the crust and preheat your oven to 350 degrees. I tend to always buy a frozen, pre-made, 9 inch pie crust but you can make your own if you prefer. Bake for 30-45 mins, or until golden brown. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream!
